Report of the Men’s Group
The main project of the Men’s Group for the year 2006 has been the construction of a mission church in the Parakkal Mission field. Shaji Kurian coordinates this program. We have already paid $3000 for the project. The Church will be constructed at Koppula village in Parakkal. Bishop Thomas Samuel will lay the foundation stone of the church during the 4th week of February 2007.
During the 2006 Lent season, the Men’s Group invited people to observe lent. Many people took active participation in observing lent this year. The contributions made through the self denial also will be used for the mission church construction in Koppula. Mr. Johns T Mathew visited Parakkal Mission field along with 30 others, including the Bishop, church workers and clergy from the diocese and he has showed a video of the visit on May 14th at the church. This mission trip was sponsored by the St. Mark’s CSI Church
Men’s group bible study is being facilitated by Mr. George John and the Vicar. With one more session we will get through the book of Genesis. March 26th was celebrated as Men’s fellowship Sunday. Rev. Frank Messina gave the sermon on that Sunday. As Men’s Group we also visit houses and hospitals. One the Mothers Day on May 14th, the Men’s Group cooked lunch for the congregation.
Men’s group proposed the name of Mr. Thomas Koshy to be the convener of the next Family and Youth Conference to be held in Chicago in July 2007 and the Church committee and the 2006 family conference general body has accepted the proposal.
I take this opportunity to thank those who wholeheartedly cooperated with the Men’s Group activities during the past year.
Babu Philip
