Report of the Women’s Fellowship
By the grace of God, 2006 was a successful year for the Women’s Fellowship, in which we have experienced the greatness of God.
One of the most memorable events we had this year was the Women’s Fellowship Retreat. This was organized on 1st April on the theme ‘Woman, why are you weeping?’. Professor Rani Mathai of the Judson College and Prof. Rosamma Cherian from the college of DuPage gave inspiring messages about family relationships. I thank the members of the Men’s fellowship who joined the retreat which made the discussions meaningful. Let us continue to meditate upon what we learned there and practice them in our daily life. As a continuation of the retreat on Sunday April 2nd, the secretary shared the word of God at the worship service and explained how women played a crucial role in the history of God’s people, based on the story of Deborah.
We had an amazing experience on the Mothers’ Day on May 14th, where the fathers cooked lunch for all, which was a big surprise. This was followed by an entertainment program led by Johns T Mathew. I thank all the fathers for the wonderful work. In reciprocation, the Women’s Fellowship prepared lunch for the Fathers’ Day on 18th June,.
Women’s Fellowship initiated visits to the DuPage Convalescent Center and we are glad that many people are working hard for the success of the program.
This year’s Family Retreat in Indiana was a great blessing for each one of us who participated. We were able to spend time to learn more about God and grow together in faith. I hope every one enjoyed the Onam Sadya prepared by the Women’s Fellowship.
This year the Women’s Sunday was celebrated on the 29th of October. Mrs. Mini Thomas from the St. Thomas Marthoma Church delivered an encouraging message on the basis of the story of Hannah from the book of I Samuel.
Like every year, this year also we have collected funds to support a worker at St. Monica’s Center Kanakkari and paid the same to the Diocesan Women’s Fellowship President Lilly Thomas Kochamma during her visit to our church in September. I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who supported this cause.
I would like to thank all the women of our church for their outstanding work during the past year. I especially thank the Church Committee, our Vicar Shaji Achen and Mercy Kochamma for their support and encouragement for the work of the St. Mark’s Women’s Fellowship
