Report of the Sunday School
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it (Prov.22:6)
The year 2006 could be termed as a year our Sunday School moved forward – academically, morally and spiritually. Academically, we added Pre-School Class to our Sunday School. Soma Lukose was in-charge of the class and during the course of the year Bindu Thomas, Jain George and Anna Devid assisted her. Class I was taken care of by Mercymol Shaji, who was assisted by Soni Philip the first half of the year, before he had to take leave to further his academic interests. Class III was in a similar situation, where Jamie John, who also had to leave to pursue her academic aspirations, assisted Susheela Philip. Meanwhile, Sheela Joseph and Joe Lukose handled Classes II and IV, respectively. Morally, we addressed and discussed with the teens moral issues giving them a better picture as to what is expected of us Christians in the real world. And spiritually, we learned more about God and His ways and the plans he has for mankind.
New Curriculum
We started using Standard Publishing’s curriculum for the entire Sunday School. With its student’s handbooks and magazines, our children took special interest in learning and understanding the Scriptures.
Vacation Bible School
We had a successful VBS with active participation from all our children. For the first time we had classes for the toddlers this year. Another first was the fact that we did not have any formal fund-raising for the venture. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers and parents for their time and commitment in making this year’s VBS a success.
Competitions
All our students actively participated in this year’s Sunday School competitions, which were held in our premises itself.
Ecumenical Council’s Christmas Program
Classes I through III represented us at the Ecumenical Council’s Christmas Program with a medley. The children did a good job under the guidance of the father-son duo, Babu and Anil Philip. Taking this opportunity I would like to thank both of them for their time and effort.
